Get an AI recap after every session
What the AI recap contains, when it is written, where to find it in AI insights, the email you get, and how to keep a session out of AI.
On this page
When a session ends, an AI recap is written for you: a short summary, the key points, action items, chapters, the top questions and a few quotes. You find it on the webinar's page, and a copy arrives in your inbox. You do not have to press anything.
Before the session: the room's AI switch
Once AI is on for your account, every session has its own AI switch in the room, and it is on by default. Only you and your co-hosts see it. The button reads AI, or AI paused when it is off.
Turn it off when a session, or part of one, should stay out of AI. If you pause it while you are live, AI stops until you turn it back on, and what is said meanwhile is left out of the recap. The recap then says how long AI was paused. If the switch is off when the session ends, that session gets no recap at all.
You do not need a recording or captions for a recap. It is written from the best material there is:
- the full transcript, made after the session from server captions,
- otherwise the live captions (with the AI switch on, these are captured even when nobody has captions turned on),
- otherwise the Q&A, polls and chat alone.
Server captions are English. See Live captions for more.
After the session: the AI insights tab
Open the webinar from Your webinars. After it has ended you will see an AI insights tab, next to Results, Follow up and Recording. Meetings get one too.
The recap is usually ready a minute or two after the end. If the session had server captions, it waits for the full transcript first, which can take up to about half an hour. While it waits you will see Still processing, and a Generate recap now button. Press it if you would rather not wait: the recap is written straight away from the live captions, Q&A, polls and chat.
What is in the recap
The AI recap card, marked Generated by AI, has these parts. Any part with nothing in it is left out.
| Part | What it has |
|---|---|
| Summary | A few sentences on what the session covered |
| Key points | Up to seven of the main takeaways |
| Action items | Up to eight, each marked You or Attendees. Copy puts them on your clipboard |
| Chapters | Titled sections with their start times, counted from when you went live |
| Top questions | Up to eight, with similar ones merged, their upvotes, and whether each was Answered or Not answered |
| Notable quotes | Up to three, with who said them, when speech was captured |
At the bottom it says what it was written from: the full transcript, the live captions, or the Q&A, polls and chat only. If nothing anyone said was captured, a note explains why and how to get a fuller recap next time.
The recap is in simple English. Quotes stay in the words that were spoken.
Chapters in the recording
The chapters also appear under the recording, as Chapters · by AI, and as marks on the player's seek bar. Click one to jump to it. Times are adjusted to the recording's own clock, so they line up even if recording started late.
Chapter titles are the one part of the recap your viewers can see: they show on the replay page once a viewer has opened the recording. Everything else in the recap is for you. See Recordings and retention for sharing the replay.
The recap email
As soon as the recap is written, we email it to you. Only you, the host, get this email; co-hosts, panelists and attendees do not. The subject is ✨ Your AI recap: followed by the session's title. You also get a notification in the app.
The email has the summary, attendance (registered, attended, peak at once, average watch time), the key points, action items and top questions. See the full recap opens the AI insights tab, and there is a link to the recording when it is ready. Chapters and quotes are only on the page.
Also in AI insights
Below the recap you will find Hot leads, the people who stayed, asked and chatted the most, and the Follow-up writer, which drafts your follow-up messages. Follow up by email and WhatsApp covers those. If repurposing is switched on for your account, Repurpose this session turns the session into blog posts, newsletters and social posts; see Highlights, reels and Studio.
When there is no recap
The card tells you why:
- AI was off for this session: the room's switch was off when it ended.
- AI limit reached for this month: your monthly AI allowance is used up. It resets on the 1st, but a recap skipped for the limit is not written later.
- Nothing to recap: nothing was said, asked, polled or chatted.
- The recap couldn't be written: the AI service did not answer. We try a few times before giving up.
